Originally constructed in phases beginning in 1967, the National Foundation of Life Center served as the corporate headquarters for the National Foundation of Life Insurance Company. Developed during a period of commercial expansion beyond Oklahoma City’s traditional downtown core, the complex was later renamed Landmark Towers in 1986. The development consists of three ten-story office towers, each approximately 113,000 square feet, totaling nearly 340,000 square feet. Together, the buildings represent a significant example of mid-century commercial architecture in northwest Oklahoma City.
The project focuses on the adaptive reuse and historic preservation of the three underutilized office towers, converting the existing complex into a multifamily residential development. The transformation will introduce residential units, modern building systems, and contemporary amenities while retaining the defining architectural characteristics of the original structures. Design interventions will respect the buildings’ mid-century identity, integrating modern residential functions within the existing architectural framework.
By repurposing the existing towers, the development preserves a substantial piece of Oklahoma City’s architectural history while reducing the need for new construction. The project balances historic preservation with contemporary residential needs, extending the functional life of the buildings and supporting continued investment in the surrounding community. Landmark Towers will transition from a former corporate office complex into a residential destination, establishing a new use for an important example of the city’s mid-century development.
